After a decade as a cornerstone in Urban Radio, CLEAR CHANNEL Urban KATZ-F/ST. LOUIS has begun stunting as HALLOWEEN 100.3, which kicked off with MICHAEL JACKSON "Thriller," followed by JOHN CARPENTER "Halloween," and WHITE ZOMBIE "I'm Your Boogie Man." Check it out.
And, after nearly seven years at CLEAR CHANNEL/ST. LOUIS, most recently as PD at Urban KATZ-F (100.3 THE BEAT) and APD/MD at Top 40 KSLZ (Z107.7), TAYLOR J (aka JILL TESTERMAN) leaves the building. Reach TAYLOR at jillyt@aol.com, or (314) 599-4726.
The station's entire air staff, including DWIGHT STONE and KI KI THE 1ST LADY, was also let go, as was KATZ and sister KSLZ Promotion Dir NICK BRUNS, a.k.a. MEATBALL. To get a hold of the "Italian Stallion," e-mail him at meatballontheradio@yahoo.com.
No word on how long before the format wheel stops spinning, but it's apparent that RADIO ONE will have the market's solo Urban station with WHHL (HOT 104.1), while CLEAR CHANNEL still operates Urban AC KMJM, and Gospel KATZ-A.
CC/ST. LOUIS Market Mgr. BETH DAVIS indicated that Urban music fans will still be able to hear the programming at 100.3TheBeat.com (which is currently playing HALLOWEEN 100.3 programming), and at 100.3 HD2. "After the holidays, KATZ-FM will launch a new station and we invite ST. LOUIS listeners to tune in to see what we have in store for them and we know they’ll love what they hear," she said.
For now, CC/ST. LOUIS OM MARK ANDERSON is overseeing the programming for both stations. You can hear what the station currently sounds like by clicking here.
