Condolences to family and friends of former STORER BROADCASTING CEO PETER STORER, who died SUNDAY at his home in SARATOGA, WY at 81.
STORER, the son of company founder GEORGE STORER, joined the family radio and television company in 1951 at WJBK-TV/DETROIT and after a period at CBS RADIO, rejoined STORER at WJW-TV/CLEVELAND and, then, WSPD-TV (now WTVG)/TOLEDO and STORER TV SALES. He became EVP in 1967 and CEO in 1975 until the company was sold in 1986.
STORER owned, at times, WHN-A (now WEPN-A)/NEW YORK, KGBS-A-F (now KTNQ-A and KLSX)/LOS ANGELES, WIBG-A (now WNTP-A)/PHILADELPHIA, WAGA-A-F (now WYZE-A and WVEE)/ATLANTA, WJBK-A-F (now WLQV-A and WDRQ)/DETROIT, WGBS-A (now WAQI-A)/MIAMI, WSPD-A/TOLEDO, WJW-A-F (now WKNR-A and WQAL)/CLEVELAND, and WWVA-A/WHEELING, WV, plus television stations and cable systems.
