The NEW YORK POST is speculating that UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS host and former CNN personality LOU DOBBS "could be a viable candidate" for the U.S. Senate from NEW JERSEY in 2012. The POST's article in SATURDAY's editions interviewed political analysts who called DOBBS "an early front-runner" to run against incumbent Democrat ROBERT MENENDEZ.
Dobbs' spokesman ROBERT DILENSCHNEIDER said, "He's in the process of evaluating things. He's been approached [about politics] but he's also been approached by other media. There are a lot of people talking to him right now."
The POST is also reporting that DOBBS received an $8 million severance from CNN and attributed the unusually large payoff to CNN's eagerness to let DOBBS go after he feuded with network chief JONATHAN KLEIN.
