WHEELER Top 40 WXLK (K92)/ROANOKE decided to use text voting for its current HIGH SCHOOL SURVIVOR contest. The voting is done once a day, for four hours each day. The school logging the most text votes wins a concert featuring BOYS LIKE GIRLS on DECEMBER 17th.
After only four days of voting, the station logged well over 1 million texts. They also received one particular phone call from a less-than-happy representative of the station's text service provider, informing K92 that their contest had nearly crashed the network's nationwide text servicing capabilities.
MD BOB PATRICK tells ALL ACCESS, "We're now limiting people to 30 texts per number," to which we can only add, it sure beats counting postcard entries.
