RICHMOND's new minor league baseball team, the RICHMOND FLYING SQUIRRELS, will be heard on CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WRNL-A (SPORTS RADIO 910)/RICHMOND for its first two seasons in the market.
MONTGOMERY BISCUITS voice JON LAASER and READING PHILLIES broadcaster ANTHONY OPPERMANN will call the action for the Double A EASTERN LEAGUE SQUIRRELS, the former CONNECTICUT DEFENDERS who moved this winter into THE DIAMOND to fill the gap left by the departure of the old RICHMOND BRAVES to GWINNETT COUNTY, GA last year.
"SPORTS RADIO 910 is proud to be the radio home for the exciting first two seasons of FLYING SQUIRRELS baseball, including the inaugural season in 2010," said WRNL PD MICHAEL CLIFFORD. "We look forward to a long relationship with the FLYING SQUIRRELS and are happy to get local RICHMOND baseball back on the air!"
The SQUIRRELS are the Double A affiliate of the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS.
