WGBH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION is planning programming changes at its noncommercial WGBH-F and newly-acquired Classical WCRB/BOSTON, with the previously announced flip of WGBH to all-News-Talk including audio adapted from sister PBS affiliate WGBH-TV's schedule added to the lineup.
The changes at WGBH launch TUESDAY (12/1), and the BOSTON GLOBE reports that the station will air a midday show with WGBH-TV "GREATER BOSTON" host EMILY ROONEY and "BEAT THE PRESS" commentator CALLIE CROSSLEY, starting JANUARY 4th, and will also air radio versions of "NOVA" and "NEWS HOUR." In addition, the station will add NPR's "FRESH AIR WITH TERRY GROSS" and "THE DIANE REHM SHOW" and will continue to air NPR's "MORNING EDITION" and "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED," which also air on crosstown BOSTON UNIVERSITY noncommercial News-Talk WBUR. Classical programming will be consolidated on WCRB, and WGBH will also cancel its blues and folk programming.
At WCRB, morning host LAURA CARLO continues, with pianist and WGBH personality CATHY FULLER taking over middays and RAY CARLO, who hosted afternoons at WCRB for 15 years before joining WGBH last year, back hosting afternoons. WGBH "CLASSICAL WEEKEND" host BRIAN MCCREATH will host SATURDAY and SUNDAY mornings on WCRB and "THE BACH HOUR" on SUNDAY evenings, and SUZANNE BONA will host "SUNDAY BAROQUE."
