THE TENNESSEAN reports that two members of CLEAR CHANNEL Country WSIX/NASHVILLE's longtime "THE HOUSE FOUNDATION" morning show have been let go in budget cutbacks. GERRY HOUSE confirmed to the paper that news anchor AL VOECKS and sportscaster DINCAN STEWART are leaving the show DECEMBER 23rd. HOUSE and MIKE BOHAN continue with Producer RICHARD FALKLEN, and HOUSE said the station may hire a combination news/sports anchor.
"CLEAR CHANNEL has decided to reconfigure the show, and AL and DUNCAN are no longer with us after the 23rd," HOUSE told the paper. "It will be our last show after 28 years together, It’s not my idea, and I fought it tooth and toenail." He said that the cutbacks have been brewing for the past year and that he tried to negotiate to keep the pair with the show, saying, "I’ve been to the point where I’ve quit and renegotiated and come back. But you have to look at the reality of the situation. It’s business. These are tough times economically. I hate this, but we have to step forward."
