MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO and AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP Pres./CEO BILL KLING announced TODAY (9/10) that he will step down from his post in JUNE 2011. KLING, who has served as President of MPR since its inception in 1967, will lead a fundraising effort for public media newsgathering.
"Sooner or later there has to be a transition, so this is the time when you would want to do it," said KLING, according to MPR. "We have a balanced budget. We have a surplus this year. You wouldn't want to do it under difficult circumstances, so I think that makes sense."
