BUTTE BROADCASTING CO. Religion KKXX-A-K283AR/PARADISE-CHICO, CA has been hit by copper thieves again, the second time in two years that the AM station's ground system has been targeted for its wiring.
The CHICO ENTERPRISE RECORD reports that thieves took about 22,000 feet of wire, but the station's ANDREW PALMQUIST said that the theft did not take the station off the air. The station was hit by thieves two years ago, and concrete footings were subsequently poured at 10-15-foot intervals along the wiring to prevent theft, but the wires were taken anyway, and the thieves "apparently knew what they were doing," PALMQUIST said, noting that just enough wire was left to continue to broadcast.
