Half of the long-running Country duo WHITEY AND HOGAN, WHITEY GRANT, has passed away at the age of 94. The duo, which consisted of WHITEY on guitar and HOGAN on mandolin, made their radio debut on Country WSPA/SPARTANBURG, SC as the SPINDLE CITY BOYS. They received a radio spot in 1939 from WGNC/GASTONIA and they also appeared on the RUSTIN RADIO SHOW in GASTONIA. In 1939, they recorded sixteen sides at their first session for DECCA RECORDS, before moving to the SONORA and DELUXE labels.
