National Latino public radio network LOS ANGELES RADIO BILINGÜE will launch its new locally-based project, L.A. PUBLIC MEDIA (LAPM), on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th at Marvimon House in CHINATOWN. At the event, LAPM will unveil its first media product, LA>FWD, a robust website covering news, music and entertainment from an ethnically diverse perspective.
"This launch comes after two years of planning, research, intensive content testing, the hiring of staff and reaching out to the diverse communities of the greater L.A. region," RADIO BILINGÜE Exec. Dir. HUGO MORALES said.
"Finally, a diverse, young LOS ANGELES will be served by public media. This is a timely and pioneering enterprise. The potential is too large to ignore."
LA>FWD will be LAPM’s consumer-facing site. The content will be multi-media in scope with a strong emphasis on streaming video. Creating video stories, webisodes, viral video, evergreen video stories and the use of archival video will be key to populating the LA>FWD website.
"LAPM and LA>FWD are important new additions to public media,” said PATRICIA HARRISON, Pres./CEO of the CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING, which underwrote LPM with $2.4 million in funding. "CPB is committed to serving and engaging diverse audiences, and we are excited that LAPM is creating content that will extend our public service to a new audience for public media."
