When WAEZ RADIO AC WBEB (B101)/PHILADELPHIA was named a winner in the recent RADIO MERCURY AWARDS, President/Owner JERRY LEE promptly gave half of $10,000 award money to MICHAEL BENSE who was the copywriter of the winning spot, and then LEE donated the remaining funds to the RAB Creative Fund , a non-profit organization that promotes creative radio commercials.
According to WBEB (B101) President JERRY LEE, "I’m thrilled that we won this award, but I’m even more excited that an award like this exists. Radio is an extremely powerful medium that has been proven to drive unmatched results when used properly. This award promotes the creation of more effective commercials and that’s a great thing for our industry and our advertisers. I was happy to give the money to MICHAEL because he wrote such a great spot and I thought it was important to give the money to the RAB Creative Fund so they can continue to promote more engaging and effective radio advertising."
MICHAEL BENSE added, "It’s great to have the opportunity to write fun, effective spots like this for B101 and JERRY LEE. JERRY is a true advocate for engaging radio commercials, and his efforts are evolving the industry. And I truly appreciate his generosity to me."
