PPM’s Helping Hand Felt In AUSTIN By KLZT, KGSR
The first few months of data from a new PPM market can reveal some big gains, and in SEPTEMBER in AUSTIN it appears that EMMIS Regional Mexican KLZT (107.1 LA Z) and EMMIS Triple A KGSR were the chosen ones.Over the past two months KLZT has moved from #7-#2 P18-34, and from #9 to #4t P25-54, while KGSR has gone from #12t to #9 P25-54 and from #11 to #6 P35-64 over the same period. Share growth for both stations has been better than 40% in their key demos over the past two months.
CLEAR CHANNEL Country KASE was AUSTIN’s #1 station P6+, scoring 8.9, followed by CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KHFI at 7.7 and EMMIS Adult Hits KBPA (BOB 103.5) with 6.4.
Format battles: KHFI (#1) and CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic KPEZ (THE BEAT) (#3) were close P18-34, but KHFI put some distance between the two P18-49 and P25-54 (#2 vs. #6, #4t vs. #11). KASE was #1 P25-54 while CLEAR CHANNEL Country KVET was #14. KLZT dominated the other Mexican Regionals in all key demos, including being #2 P18-34, followed by #8 UNIVISION Regional Mexican KLQB and #11t UNIVISION Regional Mexican KLJA.
In the Rock world, EMMIS Classic Rock KLBJ-F and EMMIS Alternative KROX (101X) were #5 and #6 P18-34, while KGSR is #13t. Move up the demos, the landscape changed with #3 KLBJ-F, #9 KGSR, and #12 KROX P25-54. Go higher yet and #6 KGSR led #8 KLBJ-F and #14 KROX, P35-64.
