Late License Renewal Application Draws Fine For PA College Station

Proposes Fine

The FCC has proposed a $7,000 fine on MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY for a late license renewal application for, and subsequent unauthorized operation of, noncommercial WNTE/MANSFIELD, PA.  The Commission granted the renewal but proposed the fine for violating the rules.

The renewal was supposed to be filed by APRIL 1, 2006 but was not filed until MARCH 5, 2010, along with a request for Special Temporary Authority to operate in the interim.  The school told the FCC that it was under the mistaken impression that the grant of a recent modification application extended its license term.
