ALL ACCESS reported last month (NET NEWS 10/14) that SIRIUS XM RADIO was the target of a joint investigation from legal officials in several states after complaints by consumers about the satellite radio company's billing practices and account management. Now, the company is the focus of WASHINGTON's Attorney General.
KIRO 7/SEATTLE reports SIRIUS XM is being investigated in the state for possible unfair and deceptive business practices.
Many WASHINGTON customers of the satcaster have complained about the difficulties of canceling the service. The AG's investigation will focus on that issue.
Another issue KIRO's investigation reveals, is that "some of the consumers who filed complaints say, because they paid their bills electronically, SIRIUS/XM just continued to withdraw the money -- even after they tried to cancel. Which is why Attorney General MCKENNA tells KIRO 7 Consumer Investigators you should be careful about which companies you give access to your banking information."
