CITADEL Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO is bringing back its NOON NEWS on DECEMBER 6th. The hour-long show will push lawyer LEN TILLEM's show from noon-1p to 1-2p (PT) and bumps longtime KGO fixture DR. DEAN EDELL, on the station since 1979, off the weekday schedule to weekends, airing SATURDAYS 1-4p and SUNDAYS 6-8a.
“In an effort to give our listeners what they want, we have increased the amount of news from 2 times per hour to 3 times per hour during middays, and now we are adding an entire hour of news with the KGO NOON NEWS,” said KGO GM DEIDRA LIEBERMAN, who recently took over the GM reins from MICKEY LUCKOFF, the longtime President/GM of the station who harshly criticized CITADEL management on the way out the door. “This is an exciting time for local radio: when other stations are cutting back we are adding more live and local programming to meet our listener needs.”
On the EDELL move, which takes one of the station's highest-profile personalities out of the weekday lineup, VP/Programming JACK SWANSON said, "DEAN hasn’t gone away. In fact, now you can hear him 7 days a week, with his Medical Minute airing every morning and afternoon during the week and all 5 hours of his broadcast on the weekends. With EDELL replacing BRENT WALTERS on SUNDAY mornings, BRIAN COPELAND's show will start an hour earlier to run 8-11a (PT) starting DECEMBER 5th.
