Among MISSISSIPPI Gov. HALEY BARBOUR's proposed cuts in state spending is a proposal to change MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC BROADCASTING from a state-funded operation to an independently funded entity.
BARBOUR included the proposal in his executive budget recommendation for fiscal year 2012, which looks to cut 8% in spending overall, less of a cut than originally projected.
"I will oppose any tax increase," BARBOUR said. "Raising taxes in a troubled, economic time is irresponsible and hampers recovery. It also is the enemy of controlled spending."
