NAB, iBiquity Outline Plan For 'Personalized' HD Radio

The NAB's FASTROAD technology advocacy program has released a report by iBIQUITY DIGITAL CORP. outlining a proof-of-concept plan for a personalized HD RADIO service.

"PERSONA RADIO" would let listeners customize stations, including customizing audio content, text displays and targeted advertising. The report contains an outline and flow charts outlining the methods by which the service would work, including the necessary supporting broadcast infrastructure and possible listener use cases. A mock-up of a "PERSONA RADIO" receiver appeared at this year's 2010 NAB/RAB RADIO SHOW in WASHINGTON at iBIQUITY's hospitality suite.
