Who's Buying What

Veteran programmer and station owner STEVE KINGSTON has formed CORTONA MEDIA with wife PATTI STEELE and DON CAVALERI, and the new company is buying Spanish Tropical WSJF/ST. AUGUSTINE, FL from SCOTT SAVAGE, receiver for TAMA BROADCASTING, at an undisclosed price. The station had previously been included in a sale to JOSE A. POMALES' FAMILY BROADCASTING for $3.6 million in 2009, but the deal did not close.

KINGSTON tells ALL ACCESS that the station will flip to a new format after closing, which is expected in JANUARY, and will likely go to a mainstream contemporary format. The station will need an "enormously talented morning show to create the news buzz and watercooler talk of JON STEWART and the musical and pop culture interests of TMZ or RADAR ONLINE." Long Island Translator Trio Sold

In deals filed with the FCC, COMMUNICATION VENTURES, LTD. is selling three FM translators on LONG ISLAND -- W243BF/SHIRLEY, W235BB/HAUPPAUGE, and W283BA/SELDEN -- to HOLDING OUT HOPE CHURCH d/b/a WLIX RADIO for $150,000.  The three translators rebroadcast low-power FM Religion WLIX-LP/RIDGE, NY.

ZOE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. is selling Talk WPDR-A and Country WDDC (THUNDER 100.1)/PORTAGE, WI to DAVE MAGNUM's MAGNUM COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for $750,000 ($100,000 down, $650,000 in a promissory note).

And HARVEST CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, INC. is donating the construction permit for a new FM in PIEDMONT, AL to GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF AMARILLO.

SPANISH PEAKS BROADCASTING, INC. has requested a Silent STA from the Commission for KCGC/COARSEGOLD, CA while it waits for the U.S. Forest Service to grant underlying lease renewals for its new site, obtained after the licensee found that its license site provided "spotty coverage" to its protected contour.
