CBS RADIO NEWS correspondent HOWARD ARENSTEIN has received a sentence of 90 days' probation after waiving a trial on pot possession charges, reports the WASHINGTON CITY PAPER. ARENSTEIN was given "probation without adjudication of guilt," including drug treatment and testing, without the requirement to plead in the matter.
The pot possession case against ARENSTEIN and his wife, journalist ORLY KATZ was dismissed earlier this month after prosecutors told Judge KIMBERLEY S. KNOWLES that a government witness scheduled to testify had not shown up (NET NEWS 11/16).
After the charges of possession with intent to distribute were dismissed, a lesser charge of possession was reentered against ARENSTEIN last week. ARENSTEIN and KATZ were arrested in OCTOBER for having pot plants in their GEORGETOWN yard.
