Pacifica O&Os Add Al Jazeera English News Programming

Added To Five Pacifica Stations

PACIFICA RADIO will carry an hour of the audio portion of AL JAZEERA's English-language newscasts on its five owned-and-operated stations, reports the WASHINGTON POST. PACIFICA's WBAI/NEW YORK, KPFT/HOUSTON, and KPFA/BERKELEY-SAN FRANCISCO will add an hour of AL JAZEERA ENGLISH to their early morning schedules this week, while KPFK/LOS ANGELES and WPFW/WASHINGTON will do so sometime in 2011.

"We see it as a bridge between cultures," said PACIFICA Exec. Dir. ARLENE ENGELHARDT. "It will give our listeners a little different perspective than an American network. We have a tradition of looking for alternative points of view."
