FORBES MAGAZINE's rich of the 400 richest Americans includes some radio and music industry=related figures, including MICROSOFT's BILL GATES (number one, worth $51 billion) and VULCAN VENTURES' PAUL ALLEN (third, $22.5 billion) near the top of the list. Just missing the top 10 are the COX sisters (BARBARA COX ANTHONY and ANNE COX CHAMBERS), tied for 12th.
Former radio owner JOHN KLUGE of METROMEDIA is in 23rd, ahead of VIACOM's SUMNER REDSTONE at 25th. Real estate and sports mogul PHIL ANSCHUTZ, who owns radio stations in COLORADO, is 28th, FOX owner RUPERT MURDOCH is in 32nd place, NEW YORK Mayor (and WBBR-A/NEW YORK owner) MIKE BLOOMBERG is 40th, APPLE's STEVE JOBS is 67th, PREMIERE feature commentator (and real estate king/TV star) DONALD TRUMP is 83rd, UNIVISION boss JERRY PERENCHIO is 89th, WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST III is 133rd (with four HEARST heirs tied for 153rd), CLEAR CHANNEL investor RED MCCOMBS is 258th, DISNEY dissident shareholder ROY E. DISNEY is 283rd tied with HUBBARD BROADCASTING's STANLEY HUBBARD, former radio owner and concert promotion company head ROBERT F.X. SILLERMAN at 375th, and new SIRIUS host MARTHA STEWART at 377th.
