A new PEW study has found a growing number of people who will pay for access to Internet sites, YAHOO reports. According to the survey, almost two-thirds of adult Internet users in the U.S. have paid for access to at least one of these intangible items online.
The most popular item bought on the net, cited by about a third of respondents, was digital music. An equal number cited software. Behind that came mobile apps for cell phones or tablet computers at 21%. digital games at 19% and newspaper, magazine or journal articles at 18%.
While the typical user spent about $10 a month. the extremely high-end users are known to fork over about $47 a month. That includes subscriptions and individual files downloaded or accessed.
