CNET is reporting that CLEAR CHANNEL is among the companies interested in buying the bankrupt digital music service PLAYLIST.COM.
PLAYLIST.COM filed for Chapter 11 on AUGUST 6th, and CNET's GREG SANDOVAL notes that it is "still not clear what CLEAR CHANNEL would want to do with PLAYLIST.COM's assets." The assets would presumably include PLAYLIST.COM's user interface and underlying technology as well as user lists; the service allowed users to create and share music playlists with friends. When it filed for bankruptcy, PLAYLIST.COM owed the four largest labels an aggregate $25 million and had $2.2 million in assets, $203,000 of that in cash. A CLEAR CHANNEL spokesperson declined comment.
