As ALL ACCESS reported first YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 7/31), longtime top programming consultant MIKE MCVAY is joining CUMULUS MEDIA as SVP/Programming. MCVAY, who is exiting MCVAY MEDIA, the company he founded 28 years ago and has built into an industry leader with syndication, new media and the recently developed LISTENER DRIVEN RADIO divisions, will join CUMULUS at its ATLANTA headquarters on SEPTEMBER 1st.
MCVAY told ALL ACCESS, "We're going to build an All-Star team of programmers and talent. My joining the team is just the first step."
CUMULUS COO JOHN DICKEY said, "MIKE is one of our industry's most talented programmers. His background as a station owner, content creator and brand builder will prove very valuable as CUMULUS continues to grow."
JAN JEFFRIES, who will continue in his present post of SVP/Programming alongside MCVAY, added, "It's full circle for MIKE and me. We worked together as consultants prior to my joining CUMULUS. I'm looking forward to working with MIKE again as our company enters a new and exciting era."
In a press release, MCVAY said, "The opportunity to work with what is going to be the largest pure-play radio company in the world was too great to pass up. I'm excited to join the team at CUMULUS and participate in their tremendous growth. MCVAY MEDIA (soon to be re-launched as MCVAY/COOK & ASSOC. (NET NEWS 7/15) is well positioned to move on as I transition into CUMULUS."
