CBS RADIO Hot AC WIAD (94.7 FRESH)/WASHINGTON, D.C. morning team "THE TOMMY SHOW" got to experience YESTERDAY's (8/23) EAST COAST earthquake like most folks in D.C. -- but team member KELLY COLLIS got to enjoy the ride from outside the studio.
COLLIS was at the NATIONAL CATHEDRAL when the rumbling started. Wakeup host TOMMY MCFLY told ALL ACCESS, "She got the only interview with the CATHEDRAL staffers before they went silent to assess the substantial damage and meet with the engineering team. Our clip was picked up -- and was credited by -- ABC WORLD NEWS with DIANE SAWYER."
"I had my flip cam and saw the damage to the National Cathedral, I put my news hat on!" said COLLIS. "It was one of the few tangible damages in the city, and was able to post on our web site just moments after the quake. Through radio mentions and TWITTER, ABC WORLD NEWS found our exclusive interview with the spokesperson at THE CATHEDRAL and aired our video clip."
"JEN RICHER, our other TOMMY SHOW cohort (and veteran news woman) stayed at the station connecting with listeners and hitting the air with midday host KRISTIE MCINTYRE," added MCFLY.
