The 20th anniversaries of NIRVANA and PEARL JAM will also include a new book entitled, "THE STRANGEST TRIBE: HOW A GROUP OF SEATTLE ROCK BANDS INVENTED GRUNGE" that debunks popular media portrayals about grunge, and examines the conditions that led to the phenomenon.
Over five years, STEPHEN TOW, a professor of 20th century U.S., pop culture, and rock history at DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE in DOYLESTOWN, PA, conducted 120 interviews with the key artists and players in SEATTLE’s underground music from the mid-’70s through 1990 -- just before NIRVANAMANIA. The book will be available on OCTOBER 11th. You can find excerpts from the book on TOW's blog by clicking here.
