PD BRAD SAVAGE, MD JEFF SWEATMAN and staff are celebrating with two sold-out AVETT BROTHERS concerts tonight and tomorrow, plus a weekend Birthday Concert Series (9/30-10/2) at THE SOUTHERN in CHARLOTTESVILLE: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30th will feature MARC BROUSSARD and SCARS ON 45. SATURDAY OCTOBER 1st is a free "No Ticket Needed" Local Music Bash with ASTRONOMERS, WES SWING, THE CINNAMON BAND and SARAH WHITE & THE PEARLS. And SUNDAY OCTOBER 2nd is an early-evening show with STEPHEN KELLOGG & THE SIXERS. SAVAGE said, "It’s been a great five years in a great music town, and we’re looking forward to 25 more! Thanks to listeners of CHARLOTTESVILLE welcoming us with tremendous response, we’ve built an intelligent, open-minded, rootsy/organic music delivery and music discovery service, deeply rooted in local, community involvement. We’re fortunate to be in such a culturally rich area for music, film, theater and the arts, and all of these factors makes CHARLOTTESVILLE & ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA fertile ground for a healthy Triple A/Adult Alternative station."
SAVAGE continues to assist with brand management/programming OF SAGA/ASHEVILLE, NC’s Triple A sister station 98.1 THE RIVER (WOXL-HD2/W251AO 98.1 FM), which will reach its own third birthday on OCTOBER 2nd.
