Syndicated morning show host STEVE HARVEY is bringing his mentoring weekend to the JACOB JAVITS CENTER in NEW YORK OCTOBER 7th-9th. The mentoring program will mentor 100 young men between 13-18 years old, who are without fathers and who are enrolled in grades 9 -12.
HARVEY will also have special guests whose social consciousness and steadfast dedication to achieving their dreams have impacted countless others in the worlds of business, entertainment and education.
The program is targeting young men from a single-female headed household in NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY or CONNECTICUT. Each applicant is asked to submit an essay with a minimum of 300 words explaining why they wish to participate in the program. Applications are being accepted until SEPTEMBER 19th.
The mentoring weekend will feature workshops and activities in which the teenage boys will learn valuable life lessons. Among the planned activities are a chess challenge where the young men will learn strategies and life skills via the game of chess and a suit-fitting session in which they will learn how to purchase a well-tailored professional suit. In addition, STEVE HARVEY will present a town hall meeting in which the boys will learn from him the principles and responsibilities of manhood. “All the young men who are attending this camp come from homes without fathers,” said HARVEY. “If we can reach them and provide them with options to achieve, then this weekend will be a success, not just for them, but for future generations.”
