As nationally syndicated show WORLD CAFE continues to celebrate 20 years, the latest memento is a new CD called Live at the World Cafe, which is currently available to host station WXPN/PHILADELPHA members during the station’s fall fund drive.
It's the 32nd edition and it's a double-CD with tracks from interviews and performances throughout the 20-year history of the program, with an emphasis on recordings from artists of the past year.
Host DAVID DYE said to ‘XPN members, "You have played an instrumental role in the success and the longevity of the WORLD CAFE and in the careers of many of the artists who made their radio debuts on the program. On behalf of everyone at WORLD CAFE and WXPN and, if I may, on the musicians' behalf as well, I thank you for your support and encouragement."
In other WORLD CAFE news, a special Members Only Event is coming up featuring an interview and a full concert performance by THE JAYHAWKS.
It takes place MONDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 17th at WORLD CAFE LIVE AT THE QUEEN in WILMINGTON, DELAWARE.
And now WORLD CAFE has announced that it has teamed up with PHILADELPHIA BREWING CO. to produce the WORLD CAFE BROADCASTER BROWN ALE! Brewed in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the program, the BROADCASTER BROWN ALE will be available on draft at select bars throughout the greater PHILADELPHIA region beginning at the end of SEPTEMBER.
