JAY FRANK, who was most recently SVP/Music Strategy for CMT, has launched DIGSIN, a model digital music company where subscribing fans can get all releases for free. DIGSIN is a “departure from the usual record label model and will focus on single song releases from new artists all with an eye towards maximizing the listening audience. “
“DIGSIN is the result of years of examining the new ways music fans find and listen to music,” said FRANK, who will make the announcement at today’s DIGITAL MUSIC FORUM WEST in LOS ANGELES, CA. “We are committing ourselves to expose new songs in a targeted, organic way that enables us to be a trusted filter to music fans.”
DIGSIN, short for DIGITAL SINGLE, will cultivate exposure through a targeted database of music fans who will receive every label release for free in both the genre and format of their choosing. As DIGSIN’s fanbase grows, so will the company’s ability to generate revenue in both traditional and non-traditional ways.
“To succeed as a music company today, you must be open to multiple new revenue streams and new ways of thinking,” added FRANK. “Through a combination of free music, social networking, analytics and traditional promotional outlets, we will be a new model for music companies for the future.”
FRANK, who has had with stints at MTV NETWORKS and YAHOO!, founded DIGSIN based on the need developing artists have for marketing in the digital universe for maximum exposure. DIGSIN will be based in NASHVILLE, TN and will focus on genres like pop, rock, and dance.
