GOLDEN WEST BROADCASTING Contemporary Christian CFEQ (IGNITE 107)/WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA received approval from the CANADIAN RADIO-TELEVISION AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (CRTC) to change its class from A to C!, to increase its power from 920 to 100,000 watts, to raise the height of its antenna from 92.1 to 223 meters, and to relocate the transmitter to the same site as sister station Christian AC CHVN/WINNIPEG.
CRTC noted in its decision that the "proposed technical changes will help CFEQ-FM overcome the financial challenges that it has faced as a result of its inadequate signal coverage and the highly specialized nature of its specialty format." According to the COMMISSION, CFEQ provided adequate proof in its application that "it is not adequately serving WINNIPEG, the community it was originally licensed to serve, with its existing technical parameters" and that the changes will not have a negative impact on other stations in the market, due to CFEQ's specialized format.
