Last month (NET NEWS 9/12), ALL ACCESS tipped you to that AMERICAN IDOL host and CLEAR CHANNEL/PREMIERE syndicated superstar RYAN SEACREST, along with entertainment giant AEG, were in talks to potentially take over MTV NETWORKS net VH1 SOUL.
Those talks have apparently fallen through, reports THE NEW YORK POST, which writes SEACREST "has fallen short twice in his efforts to add a cable network to his growing media empire. Last year, SEACREST teamed with talent agency CAA and entertainment company AEG to launch a cable channel for airing concerts and a variety of his productions. Their best hope was to buy an existing cable channel with distribution and re-brand it rather than start a new channel from scratch. Most recently, they were in talks with cable giant VIACOM to take over little known niche network VH1 SOUL. But two sources told THE POST that those talks have ended."
