The CRTC has rejected the application of LA RADIO CAMPUS COMMUNAITAIRE FRANCOPHONE DE SHAAWINIGAN INC. for a change of frequencies for its French-language community station CFUT/SHAWINIGAN, QC. The station sought to move from 250 watts maximum ERP at 91.1 FM to 31,291 watts maximum ERP on 88.1 FM. LA COOP DE SOLIDARITÉ RADIO COMMUNAUTAIRE RCM MASKINONGÉ, licensee of community station CHHO/LOUISEVILLE, QC, and GROUPE DES MÉDIAS ÉTUDIANTS DE L’UNIVERSITÉ DU QUÉBEC À TROIS-RIVIÈRES, licensee of campus station CFOU/TROIS-RIVIÈRES, objected to the move, with CHHO complaining about unnecessary competition and CFOU worried that the new signal would hurt its advertising base.
But the Commission did approve COOPÉRATIVE DES TRAVAILLEURS CHNC's application to increase power at its French AC CHNC/NEW CARLISLE, QC while increasing the height above average terrain of retransmitter CHNC-FM-1/CARLETON, QC and moving retransmitter CHNC-FM-2/CHANDLER, QC from 98.3 FM to 98.1 FM at increased power.
