CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KOGO-A/SAN DIEGO will get an FM simulcast on 95.7 FM with the flip of Country KUSS on MONDAY (11/7) at 7a (PT). KUSS PD CINDY SPICER, who just happened to be the only local and live on-air talent, will leave. Reach her at cindyspicer@costaricavaca.com, or (760) 884-7656.
The station, which will use the slogan "FM News and Talk 95.7 and AM 600 KOGO. We are SAN DIEGO," will revamp its lineup at the same tome, adding sister Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES weekender BRYAN SUITS and syndicated "BIG BIZ SHOW" co-host BOB "SULLY" SULLIVAN to weekdays. Conspicuous in his absence from the press release announcing the move is longtime afternoon host ROGER HEDGECOCK, whose show is syndicated. Market chatter has his show ticketed for crosstown MIDWEST TV Talk KFMB-A.
"AM 600 KOGO has an incredibly strong brand in SAN DIEGO with its award winning News and Talk format," CLEAR CHANNEL/SAN DIEGO Pres./Market Manager DEBBIE WAGNER said in the press release. "The simulcast of KOGO on 95.7 FM allows us to provide complete expanded signal coverage of KOGO’s market leading news and talk programming to better serve our local community as well as our advertisers."
"KOGO reaches nearly 300,000 listeners in an average week, yet many members of the SAN DIEGO community have not visited the AM band," CLEAR CHANNEL/SAN DIEGO OM/Dir. Programming JIMMY STEELE said. "In the interest of best serving our community, the benefit of simulcasting on a 50,000 watt FM signal is pronounced.”
"We're grateful for the support of our many loyal KOGO-A listeners through the years and we're excited that we now can serve even more people in the county," KOGO PD CLIFF ALBERT said.
