ASCAP Holds Its 49th Annual Country Music Awards

ASCAP hosted its 49th annual COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS last night (11/7) at the GAYLORD OPRYLAND RESORT in NASHVILLE, TN, where multiple writers of Country music were honored, and also performed songs from the period between APRIL 2010 and MARCH 2011.
A special tribute to DON WILLIAMS was featured, with performances by CAPITOL NASHVILLE artist KEITH URBAN, who was joined by CAPITOL NASHVILLE LITTE BIG TOWN. They performed “We’ve Got A Good Fire Goin’.” WILLIAMS was presented with ASCAP’s “Golden Note Award” which represents, “universal lyrics, heartfelt melodies and human touch [which] have earned him an extraordinary place in AMERICAN popular music.”
The evening’s top honors included:
“Songwriter of the Year:” BEN HAYSLIP
ASCAP “Songwriter/Artist of the Year:” BRAD PAISLEY
ASCAP “Country Song of the Year:” “The House That Built Me,” written by ALLEN SHAMBLIN; published by BUILT ON ROCK
