The RADIO-TELEVISION NEWS DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA has announced the winners of its 30th annual News Awards, and CBS O&O KPIX-TV (CBS 5) and noncommercial News-Talk KQED-F/SAN FRANCISCO each won six, while CBS RADIO News KCBS-A-KFRC-F/SAN FRANCISCO, HEARST NBC affiliate KCRA-TV/SACRAMENTO, and COX MEDIA GROUP FOX affiliate KTVU (TV)/OAKLAND-SAN FRANCISCO won five each. The awards will not be distributed at the usual annual dinner "due to the poor economic times, tight budgets and over-extended newsroom staffs," with plaques being mailed to the winners.
