Two executives of HOUSTON PUBLIC MEDIA, the organization formed by the UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON to operate PBS affiliate KUHT-TV (HOUSTONPBS) and noncommercial News-Talk KUHF-F (KUHF NEWS) and Classical KUHA (CLASSICAL 91.7)/HOUSTON, are leaving the stations as new Exec. Director LISA TRAPANI SHUMATE takes over management (NET NEWS 10/6).
The HOUSTON CHRONICLE's DAVID BARRON reports that HOUSTON PUBLIC RADIO CEO JOHN PROFITT and KUHT Station Manager JOHN HESSE have been reassigned to other duties and will leave at the end of the year.
PROFITT, with the station for 26 years, told BARRON that the departure was the company's decision. "I'm not angry or bitter about any of this. Times change," he said. "This is a change. The stations will be fine. They have a great staff, and I wish them the best of luck."
