CBS RADIO will move the heritage WNEW call letters from their present home at 106.3 in JUPITER-WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Urban AC B106.3) to the new all-News format at 99.1 FM in WASHINGTON. An application was filed on FRIDAY (11/18) by CBS subsidiary CBS RADIO WPGC (AM) INC. to put the WNEW calls on what is presently WLZL/BOWIE-WASHINGTON, with the WLZL calls and Tropical EL ZOL format presumably headed to the 107.9 signal of WFSI/ANNAPOLIS, being acquired by CBS from FAMILY STATIONS.
The WNEW calls had a long history in the NEW YORK market on both AM (mostly at 1130 AM, now BLOOMBERG News WBBR-A) and FM (102.7 FM, now CBS AC WWFS (FRESH 102.7)).
The WNEW call letter move was first tipped by DCRTV.COM.
