PAMPLIN Talk KPAM-A (AM 860, THE VOICE OF PORTLAND)/PORTLAND, OR morning host BOB MILLER, is hosting a charity drive, "Operation SANTA CLAUS," a radiothon airing TODAY through FRIDAY (12/2). The campaign, which has raised over $1 million in the last eight years, is aimed towards assisting local families coping with a loss of income due to military deployment.
The station and MILLER are working with the SALVATION ARMY on the fundraiser, with 100% of the proceeds raised going to local military families in need in PORTLAND and Southwest WASHINGTON state. MILLER said, "The need for Operation SANTA CLAUS funds for families of our troops has increased exponentially. I am thrilled and gratified every year to see how generous our listeners are, no matter what the economy is doing."
KPAM VP/GM DAVE SAXE added, "Operation SANTA CLAUS is off to a great start with our fundraising for our community of military families in OREGON and Southwest WASHINGTON. We are focused at hitting our goal of $135,000 and continuing our commitment to helping our local military families. Thanks to the partnership with the SALVATION ARMY the funds raised by Operation SANTA CLAUS stay in our community for our military families making the transition from their combat mission to their families and their communities."
