NBC's owned-and-operated television stations in three major markets will partner with nonprofit news organizations on enterprise reporting, and two of the nonprofits are public radio operations.
The LOS ANGELES TIMES reports that NBC's KNBC-TV (NBC 4)/LOS ANGELES will work with SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial News-Talk KPCC/PASADENA-LOS ANGELES on news reporting and analysis, while NBC O&O WCAU-TV (NBC 10)/PHILADELPHIA will partner with WHYY INC. noncommercial News-Talk WHYY-F and PBS affiliate WHYY-TV/PHILADELPHIA. NBC station WMAQ-TV (NBC 5)/CHICAGO will be teaming with the CHICAGO REPORTER.
In addition, all NBC O&Os will be getting early access to reports from the PRO PUBLICA independent nonprofit investigative reporting organization. Previously, NBC's KNSD-TV (NBC 7)/SAN DIEGO has partnered with the VOICE OF SAN DIEGO website for news analysis.
