RANDY MICHAELS' MERLIN MEDIA has won the bidding to acquire Religion WKDN/CAMDEN-PHILADELPHIA from HAROLD CAMPING's FAMILY STATIONS, INC. for an undisclosed price. MEDIA VENTURE PARTNERS represented the seller in the deal.
In its typically wry press release, MERLIN MEDIA stated that it's "owned by GTCR, a bunch of really smart guys in CHICAGO, as well as JEFF SMULYAN’s EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS (true!) and former newspaper executive, RANDY MICHAELS," as well as noted that the station "is now actively looking for staff who can pronounce SCHUYKILL, WISSAHICKON, MANAYUK, TREDYFFRIN, GWYNEDD, PENNSAUKEN, BALA CYNWYD and BRYN MAWR."
