Volbeat is a Danish heavy metal band that play a fusion of rock and roll, heavy metal, punk and rockabilly. They are inspired by classic rock and roll artists such as Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, as well as more contemporary artists such as AC/DC and Social Distortion. They were formed in 2001 and the members of Volbeat include lead singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen, bassist Anders Kiolholm and drummer Jon Larsen. The band is signed to the Dutch label Mascot Records and has released a total of four studio albums and one DVD. All of their studio albums were certified gold in Denmark. Their second album Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil received platinum status, and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven experienced widespread international critical acclaim, receiving double platinum, platinum and gold all over Europe.
In November 2011, Volbeat released Live From Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. To promote this album, beginning Jan 26th, 2012, Volbeat joined Megadeth, Motorhead and Lacuna Coil on the Gigantour. The tour started in Camden, New Jersey and ended on Feb. 28th, 2012 in Denver, CO at The Fillmore Auditorium. Volbeat has achieved a milestone in the U.S., topping the Active Rock charts with the first single off the album, "A Warrior's Call". Currently it's number five on the Mediabase Active Rock chart.
