Black Box Revelation
Jun 4, 2012
This duo, 22-year-old Jan Paternoster and his 20-year-old sidekick Dries Van Dijck, have been playing together for a nearly a decade and already have two gritty guitar-rock albums to their credit in Europe -- 2007's Set Your Head on Fire and 2010's Silver Threats. On June 12th, they'll be releasing their US album debut, My Perception, through Merovee Records. The album includes the single, "High On A Wire".
The album was produced by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Chris Cornell, Them Crooked Vultures) in his LA home studio. It was their first time recording in the States for Jan and Dries and they felt right at home in the country that's produced so much of the music that's inspired them. The resulting batch of songs are still brash, streetwise and full of attitude but show a new maturity and confidence, referencing R&B-inflected garage rock and gut-bucket, electric delta blues evocative of Led Zeppelin by way of The White Stripes and The Black Keys.
Kicking off their US tour, Black Box Revelation will make their Bonnaroo debut on June 10th on "That" stage (Antlers, Kurt Vile) and then appear on Late Night with David Letterman on June 11th.
