Shiny Toy Guns

Shiny Toy Guns, the L.A. band whose debut album 'We Are Pilots' was nominated for a Grammy in 2006, is not only back with a new album, 'III,' after four years. They've also reunited with singer Carah Faye, who left the band after that auspicious debut. Shiny Toy Guns formed in 2002 in Los Angeles, California. They released their first studio album We Are Pilots in 2006, after recording it two previous times. It featured three singles that peaked inside the top 30 in the Alternative Songs Chart. Their second album Season of Poison was released in 2008 and featured two singles that peaked inside the top 30 in the Alternative Songs Chart.
From its opening track, the runaway love jam "Somewhere to Hide," to its closing number, the piano tune "Take Me Back to Where I Was," Shiny Toy Guns delivers a great collection of tunes on its third album, "III." (Five Seven Music) The beats throughout are flavored with dance, rock and synth-pop sounds enhanced by vocals from Chad Petree and Carah Faye, who has rejoined the Los Angeles quartet after leaving the band and missing out on 2008 album "Season of Poison."
Faye's voice blends magically with Petree's on songs like "Waiting Alone" and the outstanding "Carrie." Faye also brings on the swag on the rock-charged "Speaking Japanese" and "Fading Listening," with its summertime hip-hop beat.
Recently the band has been creating webisodes for III, "We've been shooting all weekend. We're doing one for every song. They are like three-minute movies. Each webisode correlates to each song and everybody that worked on the song and wrote the song is interviewed. It cuts back and forth. It's really cool but I had no idea how much work that would be. We also just shot the video for 'Fading Listening' for 15 hours."
