People were talking about several things over the weekend:
(1) The dramatic disqualification of the horse, Maximum Security, at the kentucky Derby, because the horse, while evading a large puddle, got in the way of War of Will, almost knocking that horse's rider off his horse. No word on whether Maximum Security --who was the favorite in the Derby-- will be at the Preakness in two weeks.
(2) Problems for the passengers of the Freewinds Cruise Ship, run by the Church of Scientology, which has spent days quarantined in port in St. Lucia before going back to Curaçao, after a female member of the crew tested positive for the measles. The Curaçao government aren't letting any of the 300 people on board off of the ship until they've determined who is susceptible to the disease. Just because you're a Scientologist doesn't mean you can't get the measles.
(3) "Avengers: Endgame" is now the second-highest grossing film of ALL TIME, making $2.188 billion globally so far, in two weeks at the box office. #1 movie grossing movie of all time? Thanks for asking: that would be "Avatar," with $2.788 billion.
(4) More airline crashes over the weekend: Officials say more than 40 people died when an Aeroflot airliner burst into flames while making an emergency landing at Moscow's airport Sunday evening. And people are still talking about that Miami Air International 737 charter flight that slid off a Florida runway and into the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, FL., Friday night. Fortunately, nobody was killed, since the river where the plane wound up was shallow enough so that the water did not come up over the fuselage and all 136 passengers and seven crew members survived without critical injuries.Don't be looking for 'Jeopardy!' champ JAMES HOLZHAUER on Jeopardy tonight... after winning his 22nd game Friday, he'll be taking a break as the show does their two week 2019 "Teacher's Tournament" special with 15 teachers vying for a $100-thousand dollar prize.
Finally, "Big Bang Theory" star JOHNNY GALECKI announced on Instagram Friday that he and his girlfriend, Alaina Meyer, were expecting their first child. He's 43, she's 21 and went public with their relationship in September.
