SZA is a neo-soul singer, born Solana Imani Rowe on November 8, 1989 in St. Louis, Missouri.
She began making music while in her early 20s releasing three EPs between 2012 and 2014. Her debut album Ctrl arrived in 2017, where it debuted #3 on the Top 200 and was eventually certified double platinum. Singles released included "Drew Barrymore" and "Love Galore" (f. Travis Scott". She received four Grammy nominations at the 2018 ceremony, including Best New Artist. To date, she has received 14 Grammy nominations.
She appeared on the Maroon 5 single "What Lovers Do" in 2017. It provided the singer with her first Top 10 Pop chart entry as a featured artist. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and Academy Award for Best Original Song for her work with Kendrick Lamar on the 2018 single "All The Stars", from the Black Panther soundtrack. 2020 saw the SZA/Justin Timberlake collaboration "The Other Side" from the Trolls World Tour soundtrack.
On Christmas 2020, she released the song "Good Days" which reached #9 on the Top 100 - SZA's first Top 10 single as a slolo artist. She was featured on the Doja Cat single "Kiss Me More", released in 2021, which became a Top 5 Pop hit and earned three Grammy nominations.
"I Hate U" was originally released on SoundCloud in August 2021, but went viral on TikTok, resulting in the official release in December.
