January 22, 2019
Have an opinion? Add your comment below. Three Latin Kids (Eric Rosado, Josser Meza & Nick G) that loved dance music had an idea to create a dance music show on the radio that catered to the people. A dance show that came from the streets and was about it's listeners. After about 6 months of asking for a chance, we got our big break at 3 am on a Saturday/Sunday night. In February of 2002, GHR was BORN on KYLD (Wild 94.9)/San Francisco. We had a brief one year stint and got removed because of programming changes. After a few years and the rise of dance music again, Rene Roberts at KHTN in Merced/Modesto, CA gave us a chance to resurrect our little dance show.. That little dance show is now on 49 FM stations in the United States, and we are not stopping anytime soon

BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started in Radio in 1999 at KYLD/San Francisco. I did a radio run in LA, San Diego, Sacramento, then came back to my hometown. I worked at KHTN in Merced/Modesto, then arrived at KHOP, KWIN and KATM. Now I'm at iHeartMedia in Modesto/Stockton. It will be my 20th Radio Anniversary in July of this year. WOW! Time flies...but I wouldn't change a thing or career... =)
1. What got you into radio?
I started DJ'ing when I was 13 years old. My mom used to take me to the Bay Area a lot to shop for vinyl (what's that?). When I would visit these shops, I met alot of DJs there and they would talk about how they were on the radio mixing live. I remember listening one day on our drive home and telling my mom, "I am going to DJ live on the radio one day." When I finally got that opportunity, I saw all the different elements of radio and how it all happened. That's when I realized that radio and everything about it was my natural calling.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I honestly dreamed of becoming a teacher. Both of my parents are in the school system. So it was only natural for me to progress into that, but god had other plans for me.
3. What was the genesis of Ghetto House Radio?
How long can this paragraph be? Haha!
