Nelly, is an American rapper, entrepreneur and occasional actor from St. Louis, Missouri. He has performed with Southern hip hop group St. Lunatics since 1993 and signed to Universal Records in 1999. Under Universal, Nelly began his solo career in 2000 with his debut album Country Grammar, the title track of which was a top ten hit. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and went on to peak at number one. Country Grammar is Nelly's best-selling album to date, selling over 8.4 million copies in the United States. His following album, Nellyville, produced the number-one hits "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma" (featuring Kelly Rowland). Other singles included "Work It" (featuring Justin Timberlake), "Air Force Ones" (featuring Murphy Lee and St. Lunatics), "Pimp Juice" and "#1".
"Get Like Me" is the latest song by Nelly, featuring Nicki Minaj and Pharrell Williams. It is the official second single from his M.O. album. The song was released to iTunes on July 2nd.
Nelly and Pharell recorded the song sometime in 2012. Speaking of the song, Nelly states, "Actually, me and Pharrell did the record maybe about a year ago and we were coming back to the records that we did, closing out the album and putting everything together and I was just like, 'Yo I think Nicki might be dope on this',.......we made it happen and I was right. She [Nicki] killed it!"
A music video was shot in Los Angeles, on June 26th, directed by Colin Tilley. The music video premiered on 106 and Park on July 31st.
