Donald McKinley Glover, also known by his stage name Childish Gambino, is an American actor, writer, comedian and hip hop recording artist from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Glover first came to attention for his work with Derrick Comedy and for subsequently becoming a writer for the NBC comedy series 30 Rock. Glover is perhaps best known for his role as college student Troy Barnes, on NBC's Community and for his rising career as a stand-up comedian and rapper. In 2011, Glover signed to Glassnote Records, where he releases music under his Childish Gambino moniker. After releasing several albums and mixtapes himself, he released Camp, his first album for the label, on November 15, 2011.
Glover has returned with a new song as Childish Gambino, "3005?, which is taken from his upcoming sophomore album, Because the Internet. Picking up where the "Yaphet Kotto (freestyle)" left off, the track embodies an introspective, self-referential tone.
The song finds Gambino singing the song's chorus along with rapping. Gambino has two verses on the song, and gets introspective. "I used to care what people thought, but now I care more," Gambino said. The song was produced by Childish himself, along with Stefan Ponce and Ludwig Goransson.
"3005" is off Gambino's upcoming sophomore release, Because The Internet, which is slated to drop soon.A press release from Glassnote Records states that Because The Internet will be coming out December 10.
